The Focus2Career Assessment reports my three strong work interest types including Investigative, Enterprising, and Conventional. This report quite matches my thought. As an Investigative type, I enjoy solving problems, understanding cause and effect, and working with data. I hope to get a job related to data analytics after graduation. Besides that, the Enterprising profile reflects my natural draw to leadership, persuasion, and social energy. As I grew up with a family who owns a business, I get a lot of inspiration from them. I am also a Conventional type in which I prefer organized and systematic work.
The report also pointed out that I like to help others and build a harmonious relationship. I can understand this well, because I grew up in Vietnam which is a very harmonious society. These results eventually show me as someone who thrives at the intersection of analytical thinking and human connection.
Overall, I believe the report captures me quite accurately. The Enterprising type resonates with me strongly because I am an extrovert. I also enjoy group settings and feel energized by leading and influencing others. The Investigative type was perhaps the most surprising reflection to sit with. Math was never my favorite subject, and I used to think that I would never want a job involving high level math. However, I have come to appreciate it recently — there is a real sense of satisfaction in working through difficult problems and arriving at a solution. This report has reinforced my interest in pursuing a career that blends analytical rigor with human connection.

This role fits my interest in using data to solve practical problems. It connects well with my experience supporting decisions and feels like a realistic entry point that matches my MIS background.
Business Analyst

Amazon Business Analyst Intern — real-world business analysis, project ownership, using data to drive insights. Requires SQL, Excel, and business metrics.
This role matches my interest in both business and technology. It fits my past experience in supporting decisions and combines structured work, communication, and practical problem-solving.
Data Scientist
Companies: Two Sigma · Rivian
Two Sigma Data Scientist Internship (Summer 2026) — real-world data, analytical problem-solving, Python, SQL, research ability, and independent thinking.
This role strongly matches my long-term interest in machine learning and deeper technical problem-solving. It connects with my coursework and projects in data science, and showed me I still need to build more technical depth — so it feels like a strong long-term direction.
Reflection
Researching these roles helped me better understand which careers match my current background and which are better long-term goals. Data Analyst and Business Analyst feel like strong immediate options because they align well with my coursework, business experience, and analytical strengths. Data Scientist still interests me a lot, but this research showed me that it usually requires deeper technical and modeling experience. Overall, this activity helped me realize that I want a career that combines data, problem-solving, meaningful impact, and continued learning.

Short-Term
Revise my resume and LinkedIn to better highlight my technical coursework, projects, and analytical experience. Apply to internships or entry-level roles in data analysis, business analysis, or related technical fields over the next few months. Complete and polish at least one portfolio project that demonstrates my skills in data analysis, programming, or machine learning.
Long-Term
Secure a full-time role in a technical or analytical field after graduation, such as Data Analyst or Business Analyst. Continue building my technical foundation in data science, machine learning, and problem-solving through projects, work experience, and continued learning. Pursue graduate study in data science, analytics, or a related field within the next few years to deepen my skills and expand my career opportunities.
